The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pakiau lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Slater circles away quickly and effectively.
No joy there for Pakiau, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Slater throws a sloppy head kick and Pakiau moves out of range easily.
Pakiau is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Pakiau misses with a wild combination.
Pakiau scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Mani Pakiau seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pakiau avoids the head kick by Slater.
Slater throws a sloppy head kick and Pakiau moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slater wants to land a leg kick but Pakiau is out of range.
Pakiau wants to counter with a clinch but Slater pushes him away.

Slater really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Slater takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Pakiau lands with a nice body punch.
Slater closes the distance and clinches up with Pakiau, looking for a takedown. Slater pushes Pakiau against the cage but Pakiau circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pakiau misses with the combination.
Slater throws a head kick that misses.
A jab from Pakiau misses.
Slater closes the distance and pushes Pakiau back into the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pakiau is trying to break the clinch but Slater has him pressed against the cage.
Pakiau blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Slater misses with the head strike.
Slater pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pakiau rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Slater moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pakiau will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Slater shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pakiau defends it nicely.
Pakiau throws a series of punches but Slater moves out of range.

Pakiau lands a jab to Slater's midsection.
Pakiau misses with a few strikes there.
Slater went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Slater darts in looking for a takedown but Pakiau gets double underhooks and turns Slater into the cage.
Pakiau is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Issac Slater. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Slater is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Pakiau.
Slater is rocked!
Slater is breathing heavily.
Pakiau closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Slater! Pakiau dives in looking to finish! Slater is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
