The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Platanares throws a hook but Gilbert avoids it easily.
Platanares fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gilbert is out of range.

Platanares clinches up with Gilbert and pushes him back against the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Gilbert is trying to stall.

Platanares breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Platanares counters with a crisp one two that drops Gilbert! Platanares thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gilbert to his feet! Gilbert is in big trouble!
No joy there for Platanares, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Platanares sneaks out the side door and pushes Gilbert away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
