Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Solomon Hoffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicholas Tessier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicholas Tessier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Solomon Hoffman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nicholas Tessier!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tessier gets a double leg takedown into Hoffman's guard.
Tessier is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Tessier is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tessier has closed the distance and engaged Hoffman in a clinch.

Hoffman goes for a takedown attempt but Tessier pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Hoffman wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Tessier throws a series of punches but Hoffman avoids them all with ease.

Hoffman has closed the distance and engaged Tessier in a clinch.
Tessier is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Hoffman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Hoffman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Tessier pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Tessier is trying to break the clinch but Hoffman is controlling him.

Tessier has clasped his hands together around Hoffman's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Tessier decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Hoffman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Tessier's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Tessier duly obliges.

Hoffman moves into range and clinches up with Tessier.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tessier wants to break free but Hoffman has control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicholas Tessier dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Tessier throws a series of punches but Hoffman moves out of range.
Tessier lands with a nice combination. Hoffman backs away looking to recover.
A head kick misses from Tessier.
Tessier looks to land a body kick but Hoffman moved away.
Hoffman drops down looking for a counter takedown but Tessier sprawls and moves away.
Hoffman takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Tessier lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hoffman circles away quickly and effectively.
Hoffman really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Tessier feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hoffman is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Tessier dives into side control.

Tessier has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee asks Tessier politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tessier prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hoffman tries to improve position but can't.
Hoffman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tessier is staying tight to Hoffman's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Tessier sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hoffman is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Tessier stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Tessier throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Hoffman drops down looking for a counter takedown but Tessier sprawls and moves away.

Tessier moves into range and clinches up with Hoffman.

Tessier has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hoffman regains guard immediately.

Tessier slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Hoffman.

Tessier looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Hoffman wants to control but Tessier is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tessier in particular looking to stall.

Hoffman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tessier lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hoffman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hoffman's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Tessier connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hoffman scrambles back to his feet.

It looks like Solomon Hoffman has been cut.
Tessier has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Tessier dances in with a quick combination. Hoffman is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Tessier snaps Hoffman's head back. Hoffman stumbles backwards against the cage. Tessier steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Hoffman's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Hoffman just didn't come prepared.
