Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garry Zimmermann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garry Zimmermann struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson tries to clinch but Zimmermann is having none of it.
Zimmermann looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Nelson looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Nelson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nelson throws a head kick that half lands.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Nelson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zimmermann does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Zimmermann moves into full guard.
Nelson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Nelson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson wants to pass the guard but Zimmermann is keeping the position.

Nelson gets to his feet - Zimmermann follows without any prompting.
Zimmermann doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Nelson counters with a single leg into guard. Zimmermann didn't expect that.

Zimmermann is working an open guard so Nelson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Nelson closes the distance and pushes Zimmermann back into the cage.

Zimmermann postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nelson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zimmermann, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zimmermann working a defensive guard but Nelson manages to pass into side control anyway.
Zimmermann is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Nelson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Zimmermann has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Nelson. Oh but Zimmermann has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Nelson goes limp - he's gone! Zimmermann jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
