The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Colton dives in and scores a takedown into Bender's guard.
Colton looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Bender might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Colton throwing strikes from guard but Bender blocks nicely.
Colton with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Bender is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Colton pushes Bender off and gets back to his feet.

Colton is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Bender is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Colton scores with a couple of nice shots.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Colton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Colton's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Bender is trying to maintain the position but Colton is very close to passing his half guard.

Colton winds up and cracks Bender with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

It looks like Lucien Bender has been cut.
Colton is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Let's hope that Colton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Colton lands a nice short elbow.

Colton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bender with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Jeez, Lucien Bender's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Lucien Bender's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
