Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ahmed Pate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pate shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dean defends it nicely.
Dean throws a quick inside leg kick.
Nice body kick there by Dean.
Danny Dean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dean slaps away a takedown attempt from Pate, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Pate shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dean but Dean pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Pate lands a couple of decent looking shots.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Pate avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dean pulls out of a head kick attempt.
It looked like Pate was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Dean.

Dean closes the distance and pushes Pate back into the cage.

Dean jumps into guard, dragging Pate to the mat.

Dean is controlling Pate's posture.
Pate in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Dean seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Pate throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dean's waist but Dean gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pate off to one side.

Dean ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dean no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Dean has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Pate is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dean.
Pate knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dean on the ground.

Dean has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pate uses from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well Dean has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
