PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wiener Wacker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taiga Jim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Taiga Jim told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wiener Wacker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taiga Jim!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wacker pushes Jim up against the cage in a clinch.
Jim misses with the head strike.
Wacker tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Wacker tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Wacker is trying to trip Jim. He has hold of a leg but Jim is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wacker persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Jim pulls Wacker in close to his closed guard and prevents Wacker from doing any damage or advancing position.
Jim looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wacker is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wacker stands and throws Jim's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jim tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wacker is trying to move to mount but Jim reverses beautifully and ends up in Wacker's guard.
Wacker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jim controls the pace.
Let's hope that Jim has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Wacker has momentary wrist control but Jim slips an elbow through the middle.
Wacker keeping moving, preventing Jim from controlling successfully.

Wacker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jim can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Wacker looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jim seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Wacker looking for a sweep. Not yet Wacker, not yet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wacker can't keep his opponent in guard - Jim advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jim working over Wacker with some ground and pound. Wacker looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jim is trying to control. Wacker wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Wacker wants to get back to full guard.
Jim slips a nice elbow through Wacker's hands, connecting with Wacker's forehead.
Jim scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Wacker gets back to full guard.
Jim trying to control the position from guard on top but Wacker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jim avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jim stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wacker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Wiener Wacker will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jim throws out a loose jab but Wacker uses good head movement to avoid it.

Jim throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wacker tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jim is in Wacker's guard.

Wacker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jim gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Wacker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jim gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Taiga Jim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Jim swings for the body but Wacker moves out of range.

Jim closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wacker quickly recovers to half guard.

Jim postures up and lands a big shot to Wacker's brow.
Wacker tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jim stands up over Wacker, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Wacker manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jim's best efforts.

Jim is nestled in close to Wacker, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Wacker lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jim is on top in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wacker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Taiga Jim comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jim has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
