PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luther Reinhardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rufus Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reinhardt comes to the cage accompanied by Mein Herz Brennt by Rammstein. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luther Reinhardt!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rufus Lee!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reinhardt tries to clinch up but Lee circles away and keeps his distance.
The fighters circling - Lee throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A big left from Lee misses.
Lee misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Reinhardt.
Reinhardt shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Lee misses with a series of wild punches.
Nice takedown defense from Lee. No joy for Reinhardt on that attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters circling - Lee throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Reinhardt shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Reinhardt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lee as he jumps to the side.
Lee fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Reinhardt looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Lee throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Reinhardt.
Reinhardt shoots for a double leg takedown but Lee sprawls well. He's pushed Reinhardt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Reinhardt shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lee but Lee pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Reinhardt uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lee.
Reinhardt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lee is fending him off so far but Reinhardt persists. Nope, Lee circles away and we're back to standing.
Reinhardt fails with the takedown.
Reinhardt shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lee as he avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rufus Lee dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Lee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Reinhardt misses with a takedown attempt - Lee sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Reinhardt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lee paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rufus Lee seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Lee throws a hook to the side of Reinhardt's head but Reinhardt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Rufus Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lee throws a left that rocks Reinhardt and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Lee dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Reinhardt regain composure!


It looks like Luther Reinhardt has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lee stands up.
Lee misses with the combination.

Lee misses the jab.
Lee fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Reinhardt looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Reinhardt drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Some wild striking there from Lee.
Lee throws a shot from downtown. Reinhardt moves away and avoids it.
Nice uppercut there from Lee.
Lee scores with a jab to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee throws a looping overhand right but Reinhardt ducks down to avoid it.
A jab from Lee misses.
Lee throws a body punch but Reinhardt moves out of range.
Lee throws a lazy right hand but Reinhardt sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lee throws a shot from downtown. Reinhardt moves away and avoids it.
Lee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lee takes a swing at Reinhardt's ribcage but misses.
Reinhardt is looking to clinch.
Reinhardt moves out of range of the strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The crowd cheers as Lee lands an impressive looking overhand right. Reinhardt doesn't seem phased though.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Reinhardt. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Reinhardt dodges the punch combination from Lee.
Reinhardt fails in his attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Lee misses the target.
Lee fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lee throws a right and a left that both miss.
Reinhardt slips a jab and a cross from Lee.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rufus Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Luther Reinhardt's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Reinhardt closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lee circles away.
Reinhardt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lee tries to avoid it but Reinhardt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lee to the ground. Lee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lee jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Lee tests Reinhardt's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Reinhardt wants to clinch.
Reinhardt shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lee as he avoids it easily.

Lee throws a hook to the side of Reinhardt's head but Reinhardt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Reinhardt avoids the body shot from Lee.

Lee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Reinhardt is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Lee is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Lee has escaped and now he's on top!

Lee stands and steps away. Reinhardt gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Reinhardt drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lee pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Reinhardt misses with a double jab
and Lee counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Reinhardt! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Lee!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rufus Lee!
Rufus Lee is the new middleweight champion!
