Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Nevzlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Chalke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chalke has chosen Operation Blade as his entrance music. Cody Chalke has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sergey Nevzlin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Cody Chalke!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Nevzlin misses.
Nevzlin lands with an overhand left.
Cody Chalke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chalke has Nevzlin up against the ropes in a clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Nevzlin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Chalke doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A right hook to the body lands for Chalke.
Chalke lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Nevzlin or not.

Chalke tries to throw a body punch but Nevzlin avoids it by throwing Chalke back against the ropes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chalke is looking to control Nevzlin's arms but Nevzlin gets an underhook and turns him. Now Chalke has his back to the ropes.
Chalke blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Nevzlin blocks a body shot from Chalke.
Nevzlin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Chalke wants a takedown.

Chalke has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Nevzlin regains guard immediately.

Chalke trying to control the position from guard on top but Nevzlin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chalke loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Chalke throws a strike but Nevzlin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Chalke is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nevzlin is concentrating on defense, preventing Chalke from advancing position.
Nevzlin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Chalke must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Nevzlin tries to keep at a distance but Chalke has taken the fight into the clinch.

Chalke is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Nevzlin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nevzlin misses with a looping right.
Chalke swats away the attempt to clinch by Nevzlin.
Nevzlin lands a jab to the nose.
Chalke takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Nevzlin wants to land a leg kick but Chalke is out of range.
Chalke misses with a wild body shot.

and Nevzlin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nevzlin is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Chalke tries to clinch up.

and Nevzlin counters with a nice uppercut.
Nevzlin looks to land a right hand but Chalke moved out of range.

Chalke blocks a jab.

Chalke darts in and clinches Nevzlin up against the ropes.
Chalke scores with a hook to the body.
Nevzlin tries to circle away but Chalke has him pinned against the ropes.
Chalke misses with a body punch.
Chalke avoiding damage.
Nevzlin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Nevzlin wants to stall.
Chalke blocks an uppercut.
The referee is keeping an eye on Nevzlin - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Chalke lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.
A right hook to the body lands for Chalke.

Chalke gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Chalke wants to control from the top but Nevzlin keeps moving.

Chalke throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Chalke postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Chalke passes Nevzlin's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Chalke landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Chalke is trying to control the action in half guard but Nevzlin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Chalke throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Chalke seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nevzlin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nevzlin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Chalke scores with a couple of nice shots.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Chalke lands a nice short elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nevzlin is staying active underneath Chalke, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Chalke prevents Nevzlin from improving his position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Nevzlin is trying to maintain the position but Chalke is very close to passing his half guard.
Chalke lands strikes from half guard.
Chalke landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Nice strikes from Chalke there.
Chalke passes into side control, despite Nevzlin's attempt to control the position.
Nevzlin takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Chalke misses with the ground and pound.
Cody Chalke has got the better of the ground game so far.

Chalke working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Chalke grinds an elbow into Nevzlin's temple.


Nevzlin is rocked!
Chalke lands a strong strike to the head of Nevzlin. That's dazed him! Chalke looking to finish here. Nevzlin is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Chalke lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
