Ari Ahikaroa struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ahikaroa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A head kick by Dann misses
and Ahikaroa counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Dann as Ahikaroa shoots in.
Ahikaroa wants to clinch
and Dann counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dann is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Still in half guard, Dann seems content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dann takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dann is nestled in close to Ahikaroa, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Dann seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Dann is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ahikaroa can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Dann has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dann quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Dann but it's paid off an Ahikaroa is forced to tap! Nice work by Dann.
