Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arden Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Johns!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johns scores with a takedown into Carter's guard.
Johns tries to free his leg and advance position but Carter is retaining full guard.
Johns landing with the ground and pound.
Johns pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carter is keeping the position for now.
Johns connects with a couple of short punches.

Carter looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Johns decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Carter, up you get!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johns tries to close the distance and clinch but Carter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jack Johns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Johns was covering up waiting for the punch and Carter finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Johns striking off his back but it's not causing Carter any problems.

Carter tries to stand but Johns is controlling from the bottom.
Carter stops Johns from standing up.
Johns is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carter lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Johns trying to keep a closed guard but Carter is proving a slippery customer.
Johns has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Carter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carter working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Johns is adopting a defensive guard.
Johns is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Johns looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Carter!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Carter is trying to escape the position but Johns is controlling the position.
Carter gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Carter is controlling an arm, preventing Johns from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Johns with the ground and pound from mount.
Johns prevents Carter from getting the reversal.
Johns wants to control the action but instead Carter gets a body lock and reverses into Johns's guard! Nice work!

Johns wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Johns throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Carter escapes and throws Johns's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Johns tries to improve position but can't.
Johns manages to work his way to half guard, despite Carter's best efforts.
Carter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Johns is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jack Johns will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Carter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johns circles away.
Carter keeps the fight on the outside.
Carter tries to counter with a takedown but Johns is quick to defend against it.
Johns tries to close the distance and clinch up but Carter swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Carter misses with a takedown attempt
and Johns counters with a one-two to the body.
Carter looks for a takedown but Johns sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arden Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Johns is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Carter's half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carter is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Carter is looking to improve his position but Johns isn't that keen on the idea.

Johns postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Carter bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Johns and the fight is over!
