The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shakalu looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shakalu.
A telegraphed right hand from Shakalu misses the target.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shakalu tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bush swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bush shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shakalu but Shakalu pushes him off and we're back to square one.

It looked like Bush wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Shakalu scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Shakalu stands up and beckons Bush to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Bush is fighting off a takedown attempt but Shakalu is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bush to the mat. Bush regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Shakalu tries to bum rush Bush with a series of wild strikes but Bush uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Shakalu fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bush, pushing him back against the cage.

Shakalu should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bush looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shakalu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Bush is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Shakalu!

Bush cracks Shakalu with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Bush takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Shakalu is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bush has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
