The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vernon lands with an overhand left.
Pato uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Vernon.
Pato tries to counter by clinching up but Vernon breaks away and moves out of range.

and Pato counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pato.
A head punch on the inside from Vernon fails to land.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Vernon.
Vernon swings wildly with an uppercut but Pato uses good head movement to avoid it.

Vernon misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pato.

Pato tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pato drops Vernon onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Vernon is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pato is pushing Vernon up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Vernon tries to land knees in the clinch but Pato avoids the damage to the body.
Pato stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Vernon looks winded!
Pato creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Vernon with a big uppercut! Vernon tries to clinch up but Pato pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Vernon to the mat! Vernon covers up and Pato unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
