The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters tries for a takedown but Janren circles away easily
and Janren connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Janren gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Peters is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Peters really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peters postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Janren seems keen to control Peters's posture.
Peters is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Peters thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Janren is looking to stand up but Peters isn't so interested in that idea.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Peters drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Peters jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Janren wants to sweep but no luck.
