Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Murdoc Royas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Hoppus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Hoppus is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Murdoc Royas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Hoppus!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoppus shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Royas but Royas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Royas throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Royas gets the takedown into side control.
Hoppus tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Royas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hoppus is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Royas has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Hoppus sneaks back into half guard.

Royas prevents Hoppus from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoppus is staying active underneath Royas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Royas has his takedown stuffed

and Hoppus counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hoppus frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Hoppus can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Royas is looking to escape.
Royas wants to hold on but Hoppus pushes him away.

Royas defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hoppus.
Royas gets back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hoppus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Royas keeps working.
Royas tries to roll over but Hoppus keeps him under control.
Royas is not content to let Hoppus control the position.
Hoppus looks gassed!
Royas has his hands clasped together around Hoppus's back. He's all about the action.

Hoppus is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Royas gets back to full guard.

Hoppus stands up from Royas's guard - Hoppus perhaps looking for a knockout.
A solid body kick from Hoppus.

Hoppus scores a takedown into full mount!
Royas tries to hold on but Hoppus pushes him away.
Royas sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Hoppus stalling away here and it's allowed Royas to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Royas trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Hoppus being controlled here momentarily.

Hoppus decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A left lands for Hoppus.
Royas stuffs the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Royas keeps the fight on the outside.
Royas wants to clinch but Hoppus slips to the side
and Hoppus counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Royas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hoppus counters with a shoot takedown. Royas fights it but they end up in guard.

Royas is working an open guard so Hoppus takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Hoppus will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Royas drops an elbow to the side of Hoppus's head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Royas wants to stand but Hoppus has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Royas prevents Hoppus from standing back up.

Hoppus is trying to get back to full guard.
Royas trying to control from Hoppus's half guard. Hoppus has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Royas wants to pass the guard but Hoppus is keeping the position.
Mark Hoppus has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hoppus kicks Royas off and gets to his feet.
Hoppus fails to land the takedown.
Royas goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hoppus is looking to clinch.
Royas has his takedown stuffed

and Hoppus counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Royas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hoppus is working away from the top position though.
Hoppus wants to take a breather but Royas is having none of it.

Royas is looking for a sweep. Hoppus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hoppus looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hoppus passes the guard and advances to mount!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Royas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Hoppus is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Royas has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Hoppus is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Royas manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Hoppus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Hoppus is tying to control. Royas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hoppus lands a head kick. Royas smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Hoppus feints and as Royas raises his hands in defense, Hoppus changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hoppus would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Royas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hoppus is one step ahead there.
Royas seems keen to control Hoppus's posture.

Royas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Royas has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A slapping body kick lands there for Hoppus.

Royas drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hoppus is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Royas is controlling him.

Royas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mark Hoppus.
I've got Hoppus winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
