PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Ellroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gunn comes to the cage accompanied by Cypress hill - Latin Thugs. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Gunn as Ellroy shoots in.

Gunn shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gunn showed some decent athleticism there.
Ellroy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gunn seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Gunn wants to take a breather but Ellroy is having none of it.

Gunn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Gunn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ellroy won't be happy with that.

Ellroy takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Ellroy wants to control but Gunn is keeping busy and won't allow it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gunn connects with a nice short shot to Ellroy's temple.
Ellroy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gunn is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ellroy won't allow Gunn to pass to mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Ellroy counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ellroy.

Ellroy misses with a takedown attempt - Gunn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Ellroy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

and Gunn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Gunn counters with a three punch combo that has Ellroy backing up. Ellroy nods at Gunn to acknowledge the strikes.

Tommy Gunn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ellroy prevents Gunn from getting the reversal.

and Gunn counters with a left and a right that stings Ellroy.
Tommy Gunn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Ellroy.

Ellroy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gunn looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Gunn is trying to get back to his feet.
Ellroy wants to control but Gunn is keeping him busy.

Ellroy stands up and beckons Gunn to his feet.
Gunn stalks Ellroy and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ellroy's face. Ellroy staggers backwards, shaken.

and Gunn counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ellroy's guard now.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to James Ellroy.
I think Gunn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
