PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eamonn Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Aure (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aure is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Can't be touch-Roy Jones. Ivan Aure has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eamonn Murphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ivan Aure!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aure throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Murphy was covering up waiting for the punch and Aure finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Aure drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aure jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Murphy seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Murphy doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Aure thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Murphy pulls Aure in close to his closed guard and prevents Aure from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aure drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Murphy dives on top into guard.


Aure looking for a guillotine here but Murphy defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Aure looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Murphy passes into side control.
Aure tries to bench press Murphy off him but Murphy keeps the position.
A lull in the action here as Murphy stalls from top position.
Murphy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aure on the ground.
Aure is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Aure is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Murphy content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Aure tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Aure prevents Murphy from moving into mount.
Aure tries to buck Murphy off but Murphy is having none of it.

Murphy decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Aure fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Aure shoots in looking for a takedown. Murphy tries to sprawl out of it but Aure keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Murphy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Aure looks winded!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Murphy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Aure looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Murphy tries to advance to mount but Aure denies him.
Aure is trying to get back to half guard.
Aure trying to remain calm as Murphy controls from the top position.
Murphy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Aure is looking for a sweep.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Murphy moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Aure is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Murphy off and has taken his back!

Aure tightening his grip on Murphy, looking for the choke.

Aure has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Murphy has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ivan Aure will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Aure tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Murphy swivels and escapes.
Murphy appears to be looking for a big counter.
Horrible takedown attempt by Aure or perhaps it was just good defense by Murphy, which made it look bad.
Murphy moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Aure changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Murphy tries to avoid it but Aure manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Murphy to the ground. Murphy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Murphy tries to counter with a takedown but Aure is quick to defend against it.
Eamonn Murphy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ivan Aure.
Murphy throws a sloppy head kick and Aure moves out of range easily.
Aure tries for a takedown but Murphy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Murphy changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Murphy pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Aure tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Murphy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Eamonn Murphy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Aure is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aure wants to get back to full guard.
Murphy perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Aure is pressing down on Murphy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Murphy tries to free his leg and advance position but Aure is retaining full guard.
Murphy controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Murphy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Aure has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Murphy has managed to get both his arms back between Aure's legs - danger averted.

Murphy has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Aure to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Murphy is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Aure pulls down on the head and he's put Murphy to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ivan Aure!
A relieved looking Ivan Aure thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
