PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mikel Cardenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slater comes into a darkened arena with his song building. What's left of the flag kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slater tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cardenas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cardenas is looking to counter punch.
Slater shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cardenas pinned against the cage. Cardenas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Slater slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
A right-left combo lands from Slater.
Slater looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cardenas is fending him off so far but Slater persists. Nope, Cardenas circles away and we're back to standing.
Slater shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cardenas sprawls well. Cardenas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Slater gets slowly back to his feet.
Cardenas appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Slater should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Slater jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cardenas walks away with a smile on his face. Slater gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Cardenas is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Cardenas looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Slater can't hide his disappointment, as Cardenas celebrates the victory.
