The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wafer moves into range and clinches up with Coffey.

Coffey could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Coffey is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Coffey's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Coffey for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Coffey shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wafer is trying to defend but Coffey finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Coffey seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Horrible takedown attempt by Coffey or perhaps it was just good defense by Wafer, which made it look bad.

Wafer has taken the fight to the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Coffey is pushing Wafer up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Wafer tries to land a knee to the head but Coffey blocks with his arms.
Wafer has Coffey pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Coffey is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Wafer - that's hurt Coffey badly! Oh, another knee lands and Coffey is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Coffey doesn't seem to be complaining.
