Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Julio El Toro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ceoghan Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cartwright is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Disciples of Power - Born Unto Death. Ceoghan Cartwright told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ceoghan Cartwright!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Cartwright is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in El Toro's half guard.
El Toro won't allow Cartwright to pass to mount.
El Toro is trying to stand.
Cartwright passes to side control.
El Toro is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cartwright is controlling him well.
The strikes coming from Cartwright are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cartwright lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear El Toro down.
Cartwright in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Cartwright lands a nice forearm strike.
Cartwright throws an elbow but El Toro slips to the side and avoids it well.

Cartwright thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Cartwright cracks El Toro with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Cartwright misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
El Toro wants to get back to his feet.
Cartwright landing strikes.
Cartwright lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear El Toro down.
El Toro wants to get back to his feet but Cartwright drags him back down.

El Toro tries to escape back to his feet but Cartwright has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got El Toro's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! El Toro is tapping! Cartwright saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ceoghan Cartwright!
