Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benny Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Katsuo Fujikage!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paul shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fujikage pinned against the cage. Fujikage gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Paul pushes Fujikage up against the cage in a clinch.

Paul's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Paul fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fujikage manages to avoid it.
Paul avoids a kick to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Fujikage fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Paul will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fujikage shoots in but no luck this time.

Paul closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fujikage to the mat! Fujikage manages to get full guard.

Paul stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Fujikage tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Paul is looking to chop away at Fujikage's legs.

Fujikage knocks Paul to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?


It looks like Benny Paul has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Paul tries to buck Fujikage off but Fujikage is having none of it.
Fujikage wants to stand but Paul has his arm trapped.

Fujikage is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Paul knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Fujikage wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Paul, who protects the arm well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Fujikage shoots for a double leg takedown but Paul sprawls well. He's pushed Fujikage's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Fujikage drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fujikage jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Paul seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A head punch on the inside from Fujikage fails to land.

Paul has Fujikage pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Paul pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Fujikage tumbling to the mat - Paul dives into Fujikage's guard.
Paul stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fujikage swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Paul looks up at the clock and then as Fujikage takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Paul smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Paul shoots in looking for a takedown. Fujikage tries to sprawl out of it but Paul keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fujikage manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Paul has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Fujikage's face.
Benny Paul overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fujikage bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Fujikage must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
