PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mac Murda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mac Murda will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mac Murda!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murda scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
White could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
White looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Murda closes the distance and pushes White back into the cage.
White tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've been hearing reports that White has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
White letting Murda take a breather here.

Murda gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Murda is trying to control the action in half guard but White is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Murda tries to pass to full mount but White defends it.
It looks like Murda is going to stand back up.
Murda sitting and controlling from the half guard.
White is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Murda scores with a couple of nice shots.

Murda seems to be working for a kimura but White defends the submission attempt.
Murda wants to control but White is keeping him busy.
Murda wants to free his trapped foot but White is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Murda is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Murda feints and as White raises his hands in defense, Murda changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Murda has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of White is proving hard to escape from.

Murda decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Murda swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Nice sprawl there from Murda as White shoots in.

White gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Murda really doesn't want to stay on the ground with White. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Murda passes into half guard.
Murda controlling the pace.

Murda decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Murda shoots for a takedown but White saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

White rushes Murda and presses him up against the cage.

Murda pulls guard successfully.
White throwing strikes but missing.
White looking to sit in guard and control but Murda gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Murda wants to stand but White has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mac Murda dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Murda shoots in for a takedown but White shows good takedown defense.
Murda doesn't manage to clinch there - White circles away.
White is looking to counter punch.
Murda looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

White gets the takedown into side control.
What's Murda going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Murda is looking to regain half guard here but White keeps moving and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

White is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murda knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
White wants to control but Murda is keeping him busy.
Murda sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Murda is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

White is looking for a kimura but Murda is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for White to get the leverage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Murda keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
White thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Murda's head.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
White trying to control the action but Murda is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Murda shoots in looking for a takedown. White tries to sprawl out of it but Murda keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. White manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
John White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mac Murda.
Murda fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Horrible takedown attempt by Murda or perhaps it was just good defense by White, which made it look bad.
White quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

White shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Murda napping and manages to drive through into side control!
White looking to control but instead Murda has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
White lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
White throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Murda has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. White is working away from the top position though.
White not landing any meaningful shots this time.

White is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Murda is just riding it out for now. White eventually gives up the hold.
Mac Murda has got the better of the ground game so far.
Murda makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Murda.
White trying to control but Murda is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
White stops Murda from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John White dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Murda tries for a takedown but White sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from White.
John White is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Murda closes the distance and clinches.

Murda ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Murda no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Murda pulls White in close to prevent any damage.
Murda avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Murda throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Murda looking for a sweep. Not yet Murda, not yet.
Murda has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
White postures up.

Murda is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
White prevents Murda from getting back to his feet.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
White throws a strike but Murda rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
White has a closed guard, preventing Murda from standing up.

White has his foot on Murda's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Murda works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Murda darts in looking for a takedown but White gets double underhooks and turns Murda into the cage.
Murda stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Murda wants it to stay on the feet.

Murda closes the distance and clinches.
White has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Murda is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John White. That's going to take a lot out of him.
White on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Murda tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. White just stands there and leans against the cage.

Murda breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Murda throws a sloppy head kick and White moves out of range easily.
Murda misses with a body shot.
White stuffs the takedown.
White was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Murda tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but White swivels and escapes.

White throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Murda was covering up waiting for the punch and White finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Murda is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Murda tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and White avoids it.

White has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Murda clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Murda is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Murda covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

White patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Murda is in bad spot here.
White is landing with strikes from the back.
A bit of a pause in the action here. White controlling the positon.
White lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mac Murda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Murda has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
