PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Teodoro Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Konstantin Uszatov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Teodoro Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Konstantin Uszatov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Uszatov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Armstrong looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Armstrong really is a fat lump.

Uszatov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Uszatov looking to control but instead Armstrong has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Armstrong works his way to full guard. Good work.
Armstrong keeping moving, preventing Uszatov from controlling successfully.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Uszatov wants to control from the top but Armstrong keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Uszatov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Armstrong is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Armstrong has escaped and now he's on top!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Uszatov is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Uszatov wants to control the position but Armstrong says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Uszatov wants to control but Armstrong is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Uszatov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Armstrong scores with a couple of nice shots.

That was a close round but I would say that Teodoro Armstrong will probably get the nod.

Uszatov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Uszatov lands in his opponent's guard.

Uszatov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Armstrong is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Uszatov, into his guard.

Uszatov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Armstrong manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Uszatov has Armstrong in his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Armstrong controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Armstrong postures up and lands a big shot to Uszatov's brow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Uszatov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Armstrong is aware though and is defending well.
Armstrong has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Uszatov is trying to control the position but Armstrong postures up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Teodoro Armstrong will probably get the nod.

Uszatov goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Armstrong has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Uszatov but great work by Armstrong.

Armstrong is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Uszatov has escaped the position, nice work there.

The strikes coming from Armstrong are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Uszatov is trying to control Armstrong's posture but Armstrong avoids it.
Armstrong is putting a hurting on Uszatov here, landing some big shots from side control.
Armstrong content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Armstrong throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Uszatov works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Uszatov regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Armstrong.
Armstrong is in close to Uszatov's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Armstrong throws a strike but Uszatov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Uszatov wants to stand and escape but instead Armstrong has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Armstrong throws a big right hand that misses.

Uszatov looking for a guillotine here but Armstrong defends easily.

Uszatov is looking to cinch up a triangle. Armstrong throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Uszatov's body to avoid the submission. Uszatov has instead reached around Armstrong's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Uszatov arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Konstantin Uszatov!
Konstantin Uszatov seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
