Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Smash Punch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Smash Punch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Big Smith!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Smith was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Punch looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Smith remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Smith tries to move to mount but Punch blocks the move with his legs.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Punch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Smith working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Smith looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Smith goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Punch rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Smith's guard! Nice work there by Punch!
Smith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Punch manages to get himself to full guard.


Smith is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Punch is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Punch has escaped and now he's on top!

Punch wants to stand but Smith is controlling his posture from full guard.
Smith is trying to control the position but Punch postures up.

Smith looking for a sweep. Not yet Smith, not yet.
Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Punch stops Smith from standing up.
Smith looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Punch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Smith doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Punch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Smith wants to sweep but no luck.
Punch controlling from the top position.
Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith pulls Punch in close to prevent any damage.
Punch looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Smith lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Punch pulls Smith in to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Punch is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.
Smith trying to control but Punch is working from the bottom.

Smith drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Punch dives on top into guard.

Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Punch is controlling him.

Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Punch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Punch decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Big Smith will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Punch shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Punch keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Punch lands a jab to Smith's midsection.
Smith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smith scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Smith throws a hook to the side of Punch's head but Punch sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Some wild striking there from Punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith misses with a wild combination.
Smash Punch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Punch will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Punch tries to break the clinch but Smith is controlling the position.
Smith lands a shoulder strike.
Punch blocks a body shot from Smith.
Smith is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Punch to keep the fight standing.
Smith with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Punch blocks an uppercut.
Smith working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Smith lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Smith is trying to pull guard but Punch turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Smith jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Punch walks away with a smile on his face. Smith gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Smash Punch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Smith.

Smith decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Smith wants to pass to mount but Punch is defending the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Punch is defending against the submission attempts here by Smith.
Smith trying to control the action but Punch is working from the bottom.

Smith is working for a kimura but Punch is defending it quite comfortably.

Punch is in trouble now - Smith has advanced to mount!
Smith can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Punch is looking to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smith wants to take his opponent's back but Punch doesn't allow it.

Punch defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Smith.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Punch haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Smith scores with a jab. Punch acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Smith lands a body shot.
Smith's jab looks to have found its range, popping Punch under the eye.
Punch ducks right into an uppercut from Smith.

Smith lands a big uppercut and Punch crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Punch looks OK. Smith waves Punch back to his feet!


Punch is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith misses with a straight right.
Oh Punch is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Punch slips a straight right by Smith.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Punch.
Smith jumps guard but Punch turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Smith is trying to pull guard but Punch has him pressed against the cage.
Smith tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Punch just stands there and leans against the cage.
Punch seems to have got his legs back now.
Smash Punch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Smith.
Smith effectively controlling the action here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Punch has had enough of the clinch but Smith keeps him there for the moment.

Smith tries to pull guard but Punch won't allow it.
Smith fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Smith pulls Punch into guard.
Punch throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Punch gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Smith misses with a double jab.
Punch falls off balance throwing a combination
and Smith counters with a nice uppercut.
Smith has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Punch steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Smith missing with a left hand there. Punch was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Punch appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Smith dives in and scores a takedown into Punch's guard.
Smith passes Punch's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Smith wants to take a breather but Punch is having none of it.

Smith perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Smith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Punch does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Smith is working for a submission of some sort.
Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Punch keeps working.

Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Punch defends it well.

Smith is trying to control. Punch wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Smith is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Smith is trying to work for a kimura but Punch is defending well.
Big Smith is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Smith in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Smith lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Punch looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smith is fending him off so far but Punch persists. Nope, Smith circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith throws a good cross that connects.
Smith lands a nice looking body shot.
Punch ducks right into an uppercut from Smith.
Smash Punch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Smith is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
A jab from Smith finds it's way through Punch's defenses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Big Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
