PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alonzo Ware (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johan Albertsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Albertsen has chosen Kaliber - Udebane as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alonzo Ware!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Johan Albertsen!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Albertsen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ware tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Albertsen is in Ware's guard.

Ware uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Albertsen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ware is looking to counter punch.
Albertsen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Albertsen tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Ware tries to close the distance and clinch up but Albertsen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ware tries to sprawl but Albertsen drives through with a takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Albertsen is trying to work for a kimura but Ware is defending well.

Ware is looking to control Albertsen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ware avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ware manages to get to full guard.
Ware is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ware looking for a sweep. Not yet Ware, not yet.
Ware is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ware throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Ware throwing shots but Albertsen is blocking nicely.
Albertsen is trying to maintain the position but Ware is very close to passing his half guard.
Albertsen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Ware lands with a punch from half guard.
Albertsen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ware missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Ware is nestled in close to Albertsen, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ware throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Ware is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ware falls off balance throwing a combination
and Albertsen counters with a left and a right that stings Ware.
Albertsen looks to land a combination but Ware avoids it well.
Albertsen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Albertsen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ware fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Ware wants to clinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johan Albertsen will probably get the nod.

Ware distracts Albertsen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Albertsen wants to stand and escape but Ware is having none of it.
Albertsen seems keen to control Ware's posture.

Albertsen is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Albertsen slaps away a takedown attempt from Ware, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Albertsen misses with a few strikes there.

Ware closes the distance and clinches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ware manages to break the clinch.
Albertsen leaves Ware with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Johan Albertsen will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Albertsen explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Albertsen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ware.

and Albertsen counters with a three punch combo that has Ware backing up. Ware nods at Albertsen to acknowledge the strikes.
Ware shoots in looking for a takedown but Albertsen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ware's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Horrible takedown attempt by Ware or perhaps it was just good defense by Albertsen, which made it look bad.
Albertsen unleashes a big counter combination but Ware bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Ware tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Albertsen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ware has managed to clinch.

Albertsen has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ware is trying to keep an underhook but Albertsen manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Ware is trying to maintain the position but Albertsen is very close to passing his half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ware is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Albertsen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ware is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Albertsen moves nicely into side control.
Albertsen advances nicely into full mount.
Ware wants to hold on but Albertsen pushes him away.
Albertsen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ware wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Albertsen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ware trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Albertsen has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Ware has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

I've got Albertsen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
