Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
30 - 25 - 2, fighting out of New York, Roman Yakimyuk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brendan Duff!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duff just misses with a punch to the body.
Duff just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromYakimyuk.
Jab from Duff.
Duff throws a leg kick but Yakimyuk moved away.
Duff gets the takedown into side control.
Duff trying to control the action but Yakimyuk is working from the bottom.
Yakimyuk tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Duff wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Duff in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
You can see the frustration on Yakimyuk's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yakimyuk tries to buck Duff off but Duff is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duff wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yakimyuk keeps working.
The ground and pound from Duff seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Duff lands a nice forearm strike.
Yakimyuk gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Duff lands with a punch from half guard.
Yakimyuk controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Duff trying to control from half guard but Yakimyuk is working away.
Duff scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Yakimyuk is positioning himself well to prevent Duff advancing to mount.
Duff not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Duff thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Yakimyuk's head.
Duff passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Yakimyuk!
Yakimyuk tries to buck Duff off but he can't manage it.
Duff trying to control but Yakimyuk is having none of it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Yakimyuk tries to reverse the position but Duff maintains control.
Duff has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Yakimyuk is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Duff lands a big shot there that rocks Yakimyuk but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Duff is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Yakimyuk can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yakimyuk is bucking up trying to escape but Duff cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Yakimyuk is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
A big strike lands for Duff! That's really hurt Yakimyuk and he's turned his back - Duff keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Duff jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brendan Duff!
