PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Cronos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karate Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cronos comes to the cage accompanied by Sandstorm. Kid has chosen Kung Fu Fighting as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid looks to clinch
and Cronos counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kid tries to close the distance and clinch but Cronos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kid.
Cronos stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kid.
Sloppy strikes from Kid. Those never looked like landing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cronos is defended easily by Kid.
Cronos jabs Kid to the body, keeping him at a distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kid does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kid explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

and Kid counters with a nice uppercut.
Cronos uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kid has time to react.
Kid drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Kid throws a shot from downtown. Cronos moves away and avoids it.
Cronos misses with a double jab.
Cronos throws a head kick that misses
and Cronos takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Karate Kid dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Kid throws a low kick, looking for Cronos's leg but Cronos calmly moves out of range.

so Cronos counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kid is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cronos is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cronos wants to control from the top but Kid keeps moving.
Kid is looking to stand up but Cronos isn't so interested in that idea.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kid sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cronos's guard.

Kid is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cronos is just riding it out for now. Kid eventually gives up the hold.

Kid is trying to work for a kimura but Cronos is defending well.
Kid passes the guard and advances to mount!

Cronos shoots in looking for a takedown. Kid tries to sprawl out of it but Cronos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kid manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Cronos is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Cronos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kid's guard.

Kid has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cronos off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kid with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cronos to score with a decent uppercut.

Cronos was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Cronos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kid connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cronos scrambles back to his feet.
Cronos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kid circles away quickly and effectively.
Kid connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

I would just about give that final round to Karate Kid.
Well Kid has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Karate Kid thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
