PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wagner Nascimento (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Madeira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Nascimento might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Fênix. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nascimento shoots for a takedown but Madeira saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Madeira darts in and clinches Nascimento up against the cage.
Nascimento has had enough of the clinch but Madeira keeps him there for the moment.
Madeira drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Nascimento gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Nascimento throws a series of punches but Madeira avoids them all with ease.

Nascimento working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Madeira doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Madeira manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Madeira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nascimento swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nascimento has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Madeira can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nascimento scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Nascimento drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Madeira manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nascimento has Madeira in his guard.

Madeira feints and as Nascimento raises his hands in defense, Madeira changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Nascimento looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Madeira has picked Nascimento up and slammed him! Nascimento can't keep hold of the triangle and Madeira manages to pass to side control!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nascimento is trying to drag Madeira to the mat but Madeira just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Nascimento drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Madeira dives on top into guard.

Nascimento escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Madeira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Nascimento has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Madeira is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Nascimento.
