Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Severn!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ron Burgundy!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Severn gets in close and instigates a clinch.

I was talking to Severn's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Burgundy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Severn is working away from the top position though.

Nice shot lands for Severn.
Burgundy looks to land a body kick but Severn moved away.
Severn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Burgundy crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Severn - the referee stops the clock and Burgundy gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Severn. Burgundy manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Severn closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Severn lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Severn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Burgundy tries to avoid it but Severn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Burgundy to the ground. Burgundy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Severn lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Severn throws a half hearted mid kick.
Severn throws the kick towards the body but Burgundy avoids it.
It seemed like Burgundy was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Severn dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Burgundy. That did some damage!

Severn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Oh Severn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Severn loses concentration momentarily and Burgundy pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Severn crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Burgundy finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
