The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Brakeley. Those never looked like landing.
Brakeley pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Mattews back to the cage. Brakeley follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Matt Mattews has been cut.
Brakeley throws a right and a left that Mattews avoids nicely.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Brakeley has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Brakeley avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mattews closes the distance and clinches.

Brakeley's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That kick from Brakeley tenderised Mattews's leg. Mattews is trying to keep his angry face on.

Brakeley manages to escape and get back to his feet.
No joy there for Brakeley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Brakeley feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mattewss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Brakeley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mattews fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mattews tries to clinch but Brakeley moves out of range.
A nice side step and Brakeley releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Mattews shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brakeley but Brakeley pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mattews has picked Brakeley up - he's going for a ride! Mattews dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Brakeley wants to get back to his feet.
We've been hearing that Mattews has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Mattews is trying to work for a kimura but Brakeley is defending well.
Mattews stops Brakeley from getting back to his feet.
Mattews thows a huge punch but Brakeley dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mattews looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Mattews tries to pass the half guard into mount. Brakeley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Brakeley tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Mattews manages to move to mount!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Mattews softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Brakeley is out cold! Mattews jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
