Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ahmed Pate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raymond Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raymond Kim is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ahmed Pate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Raymond Kim!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pate fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kim tries for a takedown but Pate circles away easily
and Pate counters with a right hand to the body.
Nice shot by Pate.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pate.
Raymond Kim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kim fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Pate misses with the combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pate will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Despite the aggression on Kim's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Kim takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Pate shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kim tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Pate manages to move to mount!

Pate knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kim on the ground.
Pate lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Pate thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Kim tries to roll over but Pate keeps him under control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pate not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Pate looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kim with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kim moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Kim is looking to sweep but instead, Pate has passed into half guard.

Kim lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kim is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Kim is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pate looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Pate has his takedown stuffed
and Kim counters with a left to the body.
Pate leaves Kim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pate is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kim with the counter takedown but Pate avoids it easily.
Pate shoots in but Kim avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Pate wants to improve his position but Kim is controlling well.

Kim perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pate trying to control but Kim postures up.

Kim is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pate has managed to free his arm - good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pate is trying to get back to full guard.

Kim with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Kim is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pate could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Pate manages to get to full guard.
Raymond Kim has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kim is stalling in the full guard.
Pate wants to control but Kim passes easily into half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pate wants to control but Kim is keeping busy.
Pate throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Pate is trying to maintain the position but Kim is very close to passing his half guard.

Kim decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Kim closes the distance and clinches.
Pate is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ahmed Pate. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kim lands a shoulder strike.

Kim ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kim no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raymond Kim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Kim decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kim shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pate as he jumps to the side.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Pate counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pate.

Pate decides to pull guard.

Kim working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kim throws a big right hand that misses.
Kim postures up in Pate's guard and throws a big left but Pate blocks it.

Pate is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pate wants to sweep but no luck.
Pate controls Kim momentarily but Kim frees himself.
Pate looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kim engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Pate gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kim to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Pate is trying to keep Kim in close.
Pate being controlled here, momentarily.

Pate wants to control position but Kim is using a can opener to pass guard... He's turned it into a full on guillotine from mount now! Big trouble for Pate here! He's turning a lovely shade of purple and yep! He's tapping out! I would say world class Jiu Jitsu but is it really? It was nice but let's not get silly about it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Raymond Kim!
After the fight, Raymond Kim was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
