PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Wick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Octopus Crime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Wick looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Wick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Octopus Crime!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wick tries for a takedown but Crime sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Wick tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Crime defends well and Wick ends up having to push Crime into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Crime drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wick defends it well.

Crime shoots in and bounces Wick off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Crime's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Wick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crime's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Crime postures up.
Crime passes into half guard.
Wick is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crime works his way into full mount!
Crime controlling his opponent.
Crime with the ground and pound from mount.
Crime pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Crime lands a nice shot to the head.
The referee warns Wick that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Wick definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
A nice elbow there by Crime.
Crime looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Crime is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Wick can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Wick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Crime tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
It looks like Crime might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Crime cracks Wick with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Crime working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Wick looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Crime! Submission of the night perhaps?
