PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dee Waters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ahmed Mansy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dee Waters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ahmed Mansy!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mansy misses with a double jab.
Waters is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Mansy.

Mansy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Waters on his heels. He'll look to pass Waters's guard now, I'm sure.
Mansy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Mansy stands and steps away. Waters gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mansy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Waters.

Mansy closes the distance and clinches.
Waters wants to take the fight to the mat but Mansy manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Mansy tries to land knees in the clinch but Waters avoids the damage to the body.
Mansy gets through Waters's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Mansy pulls Waters into guard.
Waters throwing strikes from guard but Mansy blocks nicely.
Waters slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Mansy striking off his back but it's not causing Waters any problems.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mansy pushes Waters off and scrambles back to his feet.

Mansy prevents a body shot from Waters.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Mansy.
Mansy avoids the elbow strike from Waters, against the cage.
Mansy wants to break free but Waters has control.
Waters tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mansy smiles and moves away.
Waters has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Mansy tries to bum rush Waters with a series of wild strikes but Waters uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Waters tried to counter with a leg kick but Mansy avoided it.
Waters looks for a takedown but Mansy sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dee Waters. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mansy has taken the fight to the clinch.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Mansy continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
Waters could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Waters misses with a short punch on the inside.

Mansy gets control of Waters's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mansy will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Mansy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Mansy is adopting a defensive guard.
Mansy is trying to control the position but Waters postures up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Waters wants to control from the top but Mansy keeps moving.

Mansy manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Waters swings wildly with an uppercut but Mansy uses good head movement to avoid it.
Waters is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mansy is defending well for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mansy looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mansy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Waters swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mansy tries to free his leg and advance position but Waters is retaining full guard.

A short body shot lands from Waters as the two fighters clinch.
Mansy is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Waters is defending well for now.

Waters drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Waters.
Waters tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mansy avoids it.
Mansy is trying to break the clinch but Waters is controlling him.
Waters misses with a knee to the head.
Mansy wants to break the clinch but can't.
Waters is looking for a takedown.

Mansy has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Waters regains guard immediately.

Mansy decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mansy lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Mansy has had enough of the clinch but Waters keeps him there for the moment.
Waters tries to land knees in the clinch but Mansy avoids the damage to the body.
Mansy blocks an uppercut.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Waters keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mansy's efforts to push away.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Mansy.
Mansy is trying to force a seperation but Waters has the dominant position.
Waters using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Mansy has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Ahmed Mansy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Waters gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mansy stands up and waves to Waters to follow him.

Mansy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ahmed Mansy has got the better of the ground game so far.
Waters being controlled here, momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Mansy has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Waters feints and as Mansy raises his hands in defense, Waters changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mansy is wriggling around but Waters manages to pass to half guard.

Waters prevents Mansy from improving his position.
Mansy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mansy.

Mansy manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Waters tries for a takedown. No joy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mansy will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Waters up against the cage.

The crowd are getting on Mansy's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.

Mansy has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Waters clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Waters is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Waters tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Ahmed Mansy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mansy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A less than humble Ahmed Mansy misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
