PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lyndon Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Creed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Creed is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Eminem - Legacy. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lyndon Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyler Creed!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Creed closes the distance and clinches.
Perez jumps guard but Creed turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Creed taking a breather.
Perez can't get the takedown.
Perez tries for a takedown but Creed manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyndon Perez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Perez makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Perez blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Creed lands with a short shot to the head.
Creed is looking to control Perez's arms but Perez gets an underhook and turns him. Now Creed has his back to the cage.

Creed's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Creed throws out a loose jab but Perez uses good head movement to avoid it.
Creed jabs Perez to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Perez is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Creed manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Perez on his heels. He'll look to pass Perez's guard now, I'm sure.
Oh Perez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Creed content to stall in guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Creed slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Perez pushes Creed away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Creed gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Perez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Creed's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Perez is looking to escape.
Perez is pressing down on Creed's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Creed is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Perez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Perez pushes Creed off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
A nice inside leg kick there by Creed. That's going to slow Perez down.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Creed.
Perez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Creed scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Creed ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Perez moves away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Creed. Perez does a little dance to reset his feet.
Perez throws a counter high kick but Creed was just alert enough to avoid it.
Creed tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Perez swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

and Perez counters with a two punch combo.
Tyler Creed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Creed looks winded!
Perez doesn't manage to clinch there - Creed circles away.
Creed throws a body punch but Perez moves out of range.
Perez throwing a counter right hand but Creed manages to avoid it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Creed.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Perez plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyler Creed dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Creed buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Perez darts in and clinches Creed up against the cage.
Creed stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Perez has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Creed after a bit of a struggle.
Creed is struggling to control the position.

Perez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Perez wants to stand and escape but Creed is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Perez is on top in guard.


Perez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Creed, up you get!

Creed throws a wild body kick that Perez sees coming a mile off.
Perez blocks a head kick by Creed.
No joy there for Creed, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
It looked like Perez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Creed throws out a leg kick but Perez moves out of range and Creed only half commits.

Perez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Creed, pushing him back against the cage.
Perez has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Perez gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Creed wriggles free and stands up.
Creed swats away the attempt to clinch by Perez.
Creed changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Creed throws a big shot that misses.

Creed lands a jab to Perez's midsection.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Creed has managed to clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Creed is breathing heavily.
Creed is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Perez is defending well for now.
Creed with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Creed looks to land a combination but Perez avoids it well.
Creed has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Creed fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Perez checks it well.
Creed throws a sloppy head kick

and Perez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Creed won't be happy with that.

Perez stands up and beckons Creed to his feet.

Perez lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Perez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Creed throws a right hand that Perez ducks under and follows up with a left that Perez also avoids with ease.

A close second round but Tyler Creed will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Perez bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Creed wants to control from the top but Perez keeps moving.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Creed accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Tyler Creed is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Perez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Perez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Creed uses from the top position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Tyler Creed comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Creed winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
