The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ivy shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Petolu is trying to defend but Ivy finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petolu tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Petolu wants to sweep but Ivy has passed to side control!
Petolu can't do much from the bottom here.
Petolu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ivy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Petolu is trying to escape the position but Ivy is controlling the position.
Ivy prevents Petolu from escaping the position.
Petolu felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ivy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Ivy is trying to get an arm triangle but Petolu is defending well.

Petolu tries to buck Ivy off but Ivy is having none of it.
Petolu pushes Ivy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ivy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Ivy is working to tighten his grip on Petolu's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Petolu has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ivy is really squeezing tight and eventually Petolu passes out! Ivy breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
