PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Kush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kush comes into the arena with PUFF HARDER blaring out of the sound system. Brooks has chosen Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jay Kush has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Kush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damian Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kush counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Brooks changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kush tries to avoid it but Brooks manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kush to the ground. Kush escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kush went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Kush misses with a hook
and Brooks connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Brooks gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Brooks.
Kush wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brooks has him pressed against the cage.
Kush blocks an uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooks keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kush's efforts to push away.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Brooks.
Kush is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Jay Kush has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Brooks.

Kush wants to sweep but no luck.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brooks slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kush taking punishment in the form of punches.
Brooks misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Kush takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Brooks working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Brooks throws a strike aimed at the side of Kush's head but Kush avoids it well.

Brooks looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Brooks lands a decent elbow from side control.

Brooks with the ground and pound but Kush regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Brooks is stalling here. Kush is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Brooks seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kush has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Kush drops back looking for a leg! Brooks is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Brooks manages to kick Kush off! Kush jumps back into Brooks's guard.
Brooks has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Damian Brooks dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Brooks tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kush defends well and Brooks ends up having to push Kush into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kush darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Kush gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kush wants to sweep but no luck.
Brooks distracts Kush with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Brooks shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kush manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kush not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kush wants to stand but Brooks is controlling the position.
Brooks seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kush has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Brooks off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Damian Brooks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Kush's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Kush lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Brooks tries for a takedown but Kush sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kush paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kush throws a hook but Brooks avoids it easily.
Jay Kush is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brooks seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Kush looks like he's trying to stand up.
Brooks is trying to control. Kush wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

I've got Brooks winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
