Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Gurgel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Loars Seton!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Gurgel. No joy for Seton on that attempt.

Gurgel moves into range and clinches up with Seton.
Seton goes for a takedown attempt but Gurgel pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Seton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Seton lands in his opponent's guard.

Seton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Seton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gurgel is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

I looks like Seton might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Gurgel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Seton is controlling him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gurgel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gurgel makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Seton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gurgel is fending him off so far but Seton persists. Nope, Gurgel circles away and we're back to standing.
Gurgel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Seton tries to avoid it but Gurgel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Seton to the ground. Seton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
