Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Gregg Baird!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Honey Monster!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baird steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Monster.
Baird slips a jab from Monster.
Baird avoids the body shot from Monster.
Baird displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Monster throws out the jab.

Baird shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Monster is trying to defend but Baird finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Monster wants to get back to full guard but Baird has mounted him!
Monster looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monster wants to hold on but Baird pushes him away.
Monster sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Monster is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Monster regains full guard. Nicely done.
Monster is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Baird won't allow Monster to sweep him here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Monster manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Baird manages to get himself to full guard.

Monster wants to pass the guard but Baird is keeping the position.
Monster is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Monster postures up in Baird's guard and throws a big left but Baird blocks it.
Monster loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Monster throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Monster drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Monster jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Monster is pushing down on Baird's leg trying to pass to half guard. Baird is fighting to maintain full guard but Monster has managed to sneak the leg through.
Monster wants to control but Baird is keeping him busy.
Well, if Monster is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Monster frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Monster throwing strikes here but Baird is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Baird is breathing heavily.
Baird is in a horrible position here. Monster smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Monster sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Monster throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Baird because Monster loaded up on that one.

Monster misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Monster working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Baird turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Monster off and cradles Baird's limp body as Monster celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Honey Monster!
A very excited looking Honey Monster made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
