Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Hawkes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dr Francoise Petit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonathan Hawkes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dr Francoise Petit!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Petit or perhaps it was just good defense by Hawkes which made him look bad.
Hawkes misses with a head kick.

Petit fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hawkes sprawls well initially but Petit persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Petit trying to mount his opponent but Hawkes defends it.
The fighters are battling for position here. Hawkes manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Hawkes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Petit controls the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hawkes moves in looking to clinch but Petit pushes him off.
Hawkes buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hawkes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hawkes throws a head kick but Petit moves out of range.
Petit shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hawkes pinned against the cage. Hawkes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Petit throws the left hand but Hawkes avoids the punch easily.

A punch lands to the side of Petit 's head but he takes it in his stride.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hawkes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Hawkes drops Petit with a right and a left! Hawkes comes rushing in but Petit regains his composure and manages to keep Hawkes in guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hawkes throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Petit misses with an uppercut. Hawkes saw that one coming.
Hawkes tries to close the distance and clinch but Petit swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hawkes takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Jonathan Hawkes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hawkes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Petit.
Petit misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Petit fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Hawkes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Petit keeps working.
Hawkes thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Petit's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawkes looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Petit with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hawkes lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Petit misses with some strikes from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hawkes thows a body shot but no joy.
Hawkes lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Petit shoots for a double leg takedown but Hawkes sprawls well. He's pushed Petit's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hawkes is looking to wear down Petit with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Hawkes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Petit moves away.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jonathan Hawkes will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hawkes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
