The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meyer keeps the fight on the outside.
Ashida fails to land the takedown.
Ashida misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Meyer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kurt Meyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Manny Ashida.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ashida.
Ashida creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Meyer sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Ashida throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Meyer works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Ashida lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Meyer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Meyer tries to get out of the position.

Meyer is trying to stand.
Meyer regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ashida.
Meyer wants to stand up but Ashida is controlling him.
Ashida throws a strike but Meyer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Ashida is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Meyer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ashida, up you get!
Meyer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Meyer connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Ashida to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Meyer!
