Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randy Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Winter!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Ron Honeybunn and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winter fails in his attempt to clinch.
Grant throwing a counter right hand but Winter manages to avoid it.

Winter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Grant, pushing him back against the cage.

Winter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Horrible takedown attempt by Grant or perhaps it was just good defense by Winter, which made it look bad.
Winter misses with a takedown attempt - Grant sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Winter throws a head kick that misses.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grant lands a glancing blow to the side of Winter's head.
Winter is looking to clinch but Grant is avoiding it.
Winter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Winter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Grant seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Grant will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Grant slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Grant lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Grant has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Winter's body.
Winter tries to roll but Grant sticks to his back.

I really don't envy Winter right now.

Grant is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Winter. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Matt Winter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Winter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Grant tries to avoid it but Winter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Grant to the ground. Grant escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Randy Grant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Winter.

Grant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Winter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Winter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Grant throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Grant has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Winter doesn't defend quickly enough and Grant has managed to lock this one up! Can Winter escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Grant on a fantastic submission victory.
