TWGC 14 (265lbs, D3): Montreal Qualifier - Round 1 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Joao Pedro Mauricio DeSilva and Steel Grappler. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Joao Pedro Mauricio DeSilva! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Steel Grappler!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Grappler changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. DeSilva tries to avoid it but Grappler manages to keep hold of a leg and drag DeSilva to the ground. DeSilva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've been hearing reports that DeSilva has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Grappler shoots in for a takedown but DeSilva shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
DeSilva keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Joao Pedro Mauricio DeSilva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steel Grappler.

DeSilva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Grappler was covering up waiting for the punch and DeSilva finishes the takedown easily into guard.

You can see the frustration on DeSilva's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
