Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Alarcon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thaigo Leites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leites has chosen Sunday Bloody Sunday - U2 as his entrance music. The key to victory for Oscar Alarcon has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oscar Alarcon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thaigo Leites!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leites misses with an uppercut. Alarcon saw that one coming.
A telegraphed right hand from Alarcon misses the target.
Alarcon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Alarcon throws a hook to the side of Leites's head but Leites sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Alarcon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alarcon throws the left hand but Leites avoids the punch easily.
Alarcon throws a hook to the side of Leites's head but Leites sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Leites displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Alarcon throws out the jab.
Leites avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Alarcon waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Leites.
Alarcon lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Leites sprawling to the canvas. Alarcon follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Leites hang on?


Leites is rocked!


It looks like Thaigo Leites has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alarcon throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Leites is still in real trouble! Can Alarcon finish him?
Still in half guard, Alarcon seems content to control.
Leites seems to have recovered his senses.
Leites trying to hold on to Alarcon's head to control him but Alarcon postures up.

Alarcon escapes and gets back to his feet.
Alarcon works Leites's body with a nice hook.

Leites shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Leites was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Alarcon tries to hold on but Leites pushes him away.
Leites blocks Alarcon's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Leites punching from mount but Alarcon doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Leites with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Leites moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Alarcon has worked his arm free - good work by Alarcon!
Leites looks gassed!
Alarcon wants to get back to his feet but Leites drags him back down.

Leites thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Leites wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Alarcon, who protects the arm well.
Alarcon tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Alarcon tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Leites easily slips into full mount!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Alarcon is trying desperately to improve position.

Leites goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Alarcon turns into him and now he's in Leites's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Alarcon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Leites throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Leites has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alarcon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Leites throws his legs up looking for a submission but Alarcon uses it to pass to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Leites displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Alarcon throws out the jab.
Alarcon's corner calls for a 1-2. Alarcon obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Alarcon misses with a looping right.
Alarcon pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Alarcon lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Leites at a distance.
Alarcon misses with an uppercut. Leites saw that one coming.
Leites slips a jab from Alarcon.
Leites uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alarcon.
Leites scores with a crisp jab that stopped Alarcon in his tracks.
Alarcon dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Leites. That did some damage!

Oscar Alarcon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alarcon throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Leites.
Alarcon misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Leites.
Alarcon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Some bone on bone action there as Leites checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Alarcon throws an overhand right that lands on Leites's shoulder, as Leites tries to avoid the shot.
Leites keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Alarcon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Leites.
Alarcon pivots, looking for a leg kick but Leites is out of range and Alarcon settles back down.
Leites ducks under a wild hook from Alarcon.
Alarcon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Alarcon fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Leites is out of range.

Leites uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alarcon.
Alarcon scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Alarcon pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Alarcon throws an overhand right that lands on Leites's shoulder, as Leites tries to avoid the shot.
Alarcon misses with a two punch combination.
A head kick misses from Leites.

Leites scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Leites swings around for an armbar but Alarcon sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Leites's guard.
Alarcon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leites on the ground.

Leites is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Alarcon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Leites is looking for a triangle here but Alarcon uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Alarcon is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Leites's shoulder. That is not cool.
Leites throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Leites is looking to regain half guard here but Alarcon keeps moving and retains side control.
Alarcon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Leites keeps working.
Alarcon tries to advance to mount but can't.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Leites is being controlled here.
Alarcon is looking to take a break and control but Leites is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Leites is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Alarcon lands a head kick!
Leites moves out of range of the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Thaigo Leites's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Alarcon throws a hook to the side of Leites's head but Leites sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Alarcon throws a lazy right hand but Leites sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Alarcon throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Leites on the side of the head.
Alarcon misses with the combination.
Leites cracks Alarcon with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Leites ducks under a wild hook from Alarcon.
Alarcon throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Leites sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Alarcon throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Leites displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Alarcon throws out the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alarcon misses the jab.
Alarcon throws a jab when Leites was well out of range.
Oscar Alarcon is winning the standup battle so far.
Alarcon pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Leites closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Leites lands in his opponent's guard.
Alarcon tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Leites is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Alarcon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Leites manages to get himself to full guard.

Alarcon is looking to stand up but Leites won't let him.

Thaigo Leites has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Alarcon wants to stand but Leites has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alarcon perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Oscar Alarcon.
Well Alarcon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
