Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrey Arshavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrey Arshavin!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter swats away the attempt to clinch by Arshavin.
Arshavin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Derrick Carter has been cut.
Carter on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Arshavin. Arshavin obviously looking to wear him down.
Arshavin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Carter swings for the body but Arshavin moves out of range.
Arshavin closes the distance and clinches up with Carter, looking for a takedown. Arshavin pushes Carter against the cage but Carter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Carter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Carter tries to hold on but Arshavin pushes him away.

Arshavin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Carter's face.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Arshavin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carter's guard.
Carter controls Arshavin momentarily but Arshavin frees himself.

Arshavin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Carter sprawls well initially but Arshavin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Well, if Arshavin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

and Carter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Arshavin won't be happy with that.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carter sneaks back into half guard.
Carter has a hand on Arshavin's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Arshavin takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Carter tries to hold on but Arshavin pushes him away.
Arshavin looking to control but Carter is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Andrey Arshavin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
