Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Donnell Hyde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiang Chi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donnell Hyde has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Hyde counters with a series of strikes. Chi will be more careful next time no doubt.
Chi misses with a double jab

and Hyde counters with a shoot takedown. Chi fights it but they end up in guard.
Hyde makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Chi looking for a guillotine here but Hyde defends easily.
Hyde wanted to stand there but Chi had control of the position.
Hyde has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chi tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Chi is trying to control the position but Hyde postures up.
Chi throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Hyde decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Hyde is looking for a counter combo.

Chi clinches.

Hyde tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Chi just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hyde stops a takedown attempt from Chi.
A short right from Hyde.
Hyde throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Chi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hyde as he jumps to the side.
Donnell Hyde has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jiang Chi.

Chi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hyde manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hyde can't find room to land a body shot as Chi controls the action.

Hyde is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Chi is defending well for now.
Chi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Chi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hyde avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Chi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hyde sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chi somewhat.

Hyde takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Chi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hyde is fending him off so far but Chi persists. Nope, Hyde circles away and we're back to standing.
Chi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hyde tries to avoid it but Chi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hyde to the ground. Hyde escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A head kick misses from Chi.
A counter left hand to the body from Hyde misses its target.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hyde forces Chi back against the cage and clinches.
Chi keeps control of Hyde as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Hyde jumps into guard, dragging Chi to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hyde shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chi is trying to defend but Hyde finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hyde is thwarting Chi's attempts to control the position.
Hyde is taking a breather. Chi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chi is controlling Hyde's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Well, if Hyde is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hyde sprawls well. Hyde wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chi gets slowly back to his feet.

Hyde went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Chi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hyde quickly recovers to half guard.

Hyde has one foot on Chi's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Chi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Donnell Hyde is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hyde throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chi's waist but Chi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hyde off to one side.

Hyde pushes a forearm under Chi's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Chi is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
