Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Tran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ Ritchie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). JJ Ritchie has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jimmy Tran's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Tran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, JJ Ritchie!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ritchie jabs Tran right on the nose. Tran blinks but takes it well.
Ritchie looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Ritchie avoids the head kick by Tran.
Tran changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ritchie tries to avoid it but Tran manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ritchie to the ground. Ritchie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ritchie is looking to clinch but Tran is avoiding it.
Ritchie throws a sloppy head kick and Tran moves out of range easily.
Tran avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ritchie's coach down at Kung Fu Fighting Club ($120 entry fee) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Ritchie's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Tran manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ritchie on his heels. He'll look to pass Ritchie's guard now, I'm sure.
Tran engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tran seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ritchie for as long as he can get away with.

Tran works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Tran really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Tran controlling the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tran has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Tran lands a high kick!
Ritchie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tran manages to avoid it.
Tran tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ritchie defends well and Tran ends up having to push Ritchie into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tran shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ritchie defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Tran. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tran goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
JJ Ritchie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ritchie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tran kicks Ritchie off and gets back to his feet.
Tran shoots in but no luck this time.
Ritchie throws a counter combo.

Tran moves into the clinch successfully.

Tran breaks from the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A shot to the liver by Ritchie. Beautiful body shot.
Tran shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ritchie but Ritchie pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tran lands with a slapping head kick.
Ritchie throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Tran shoots in for a double leg but Ritchie sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tran shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ritchie sprawls well. Ritchie wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tran gets slowly back to his feet.
Tran shoots in but Ritchie avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jimmy Tran will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ritchie wants to slow Tran down by chopping away at his legs.
Tran was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ritchie looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ritchie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tran was well out of range. Poor timing from Ritchie.
Tran tries to counter by clinching up but Ritchie breaks away and moves out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Ritchie. Those never looked like landing.
Tran dives in and grabs Ritchie's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ritchie pushes down on Tran's head and hops out.
Tran throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
JJ Ritchie seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Ritchie scores with a takedown into Tran's guard.

Tran has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Ritchie off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Ritchie is breathing heavily.

Tran clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tran pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Tran closes the distance and clinches.
Tran keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ritchie's efforts to push away.

Tran pulls guard effortlessly.

Tran has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Ritchie doesn't defend quickly enough and Tran has managed to lock this one up! Can Ritchie escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Tran on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jimmy Tran!
