PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Thunderdance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Agatupu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thunderdance comes to the cage accompanied by Lissie "Pursuit of Happiness. Agatupu has chosen "How Bizarre" by OMC as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joseph Thunderdance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ian Agatupu!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thunderdance throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Agatupu looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Thunderdance throws a right and a left that Agatupu avoids nicely.
Thunderdance scores with a three punch combo!
Agatupu gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Thunderdance counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Agatupu takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Thunderdance misses with a double jab

and Agatupu counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Agatupu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Thunderdance will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Agatupu with the counter takedown but Thunderdance avoids it easily.
Thunderdance misses with a combination
and Agatupu counters with a one-two to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Joseph Thunderdance seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thunderdance throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Agatupu's waist but Agatupu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thunderdance off to one side.

Agatupu gets tackled into the cage by Thunderdance. Thunderdance maintains the clinch.
Thunderdance's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Thunderdance breaks the clinch.
Thunderdance swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Thunderdance misses with an attempted mid kick.
A lazy left from Thunderdance finds it's target.

Thunderdance shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Thunderdance was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Thunderdance looks up at the clock and then as Agatupu takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Thunderdance smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Agatupu is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Thunderdance wants to lay and pray for a moment but Agatupu keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Thunderdance decides to stand back up.
Thunderdance lands a two punch combo.
Thunderdance throws a series of punches but Agatupu moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thunderdance throws a combination. Agatupu tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Donk. Thunderdance catches Agatupu right on the button with a cross.


Agatupu is rocked!
Thunderdance cracks Agatupu's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Agatupu slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Thunderdance can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joseph Thunderdance!
Our winner, Joseph Thunderdance, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Ian Agatupu was interviewed post fight and said 'You think that was bizarre, just wait until my next fight!'.
