Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Arthur Bishop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Newman!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bishop throws a push kick but Newman slaps the foot to one side.
Bishop fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Newman.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Newman enables Bishop to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Newman manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Newman throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Bishop sitting in guard here, content to control.
Bishop trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Newman manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Bishop bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Newman's guard.

Bishop's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Newman is pulling down on Bishop's head to control his posture.
Bishop is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Newman is trying to keep Bishop in close.
Newman looking to control but Bishop passes into half guard.
Bishop missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Bishop trying to mount his opponent but Newman defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bishop is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Newman manages to get to full guard.
Newman wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Bishop wants to control from the top but Newman keeps moving.

Newman working for a triangle but Bishop defends it easily.
Newman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bishop tries to land a front kick but Newman steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Bishop fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Bishop on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Newman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Newman thuds a left hand into Bishop's body.
Newman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bishop has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bishop there as he acknowledges the shot.
Bishop scores with a hook.
Bishop uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Newman.
Bishop attempts a counter takedown but Newman avoids it well and moves away.
Newman throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Bishop throws the left hand but Newman avoids the punch easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bishop takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Bishop throws a head kick that misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Newman.
Bishop throws a hook but Newman blocks it.
Newman jabs at Bishop's body.
Newman thuds his right hand into Bishop's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Bishop takes one to the chin there.


Bishop is rocked!
Newman feints a jab and as Bishop dips his head, Newman unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Bishop right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Bishop falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Newman smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Paul Newman!
Paul Newman seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
