PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jc Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jc Callahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruce Lee!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee dives in and scores a takedown into Callahan's guard.
Lee sitting in guard here, content to control.
Lee distracts Callahan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Lee decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Callahan, up you get!
A head kick misses from Lee.
A punch combination from Lee misses.

Lee drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Callahan throws Lee to one side and escapes!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Callahan closes the distance and pushes Lee back into the cage.

Callahan manages to pull guard.
Lee wants to control from the top but Callahan keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Callahan manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Callahan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lee off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Callahan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Lee throws a nice looking combination but Callahan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Lee instigates a clinch.

Lee jumps guard.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Callahan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lee looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Callahan passes into side control.
Lee being controlled for a moment.
Lee wants to control but Callahan postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A control attempt from Lee but he's now mounted!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Callahan wants to control the pace but Lee is squirming around nicely.
Lee looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Callahan landing strikes from the mount.
Lee working to try and regain half guard.
Callahan lands a heavy elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee wants to hold on but Callahan pushes him away.
Lee is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Callahan pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Callahan landing punches.
Lee wants to control but Callahan is having none of it.
Callahan lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Callahan thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jc Callahan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Callahan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lee's half guard.
Lee wants to get back to his feet.
Lee is trying to control but can't.

Callahan wants to work for an arm triangle but Lee is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Callahan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee is refusing to be controlled, as Callahan sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Callahan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lee doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Callahan.

Callahan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lee defends it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lee wants to control but Callahan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Lee throws a head kick but Callahan moves out of range.
Callahan tries to counter with a takedown but Lee is quick to defend against it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lee.

Callahan sneaks out the side door and pushes Lee away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Lee closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Callahan's guard.

Lee landing some decent shots from guard.
Callahan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee is fighting to break Callahan's control of his arms but Callahan is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Callahan pulls Lee in close to prevent any damage.
Lee working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Callahan's head.
Callahan is controlling Lee's posture.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lee sitting in guard here, content to control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Lee gets caught flat footed, as Callahan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jc Callahan dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Callahan moves out of range easily.
Lee looks to land a body kick but Callahan moved away.
Lee misses with a head kick.

Callahan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lee, pushing him back against the cage.
Lee letting Callahan take a breather here.

Lee successfully pulls guard.

Lee pushes Callahan off and gets back to his feet.
Lee paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Callahan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lee was covering up waiting for the punch and Callahan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Callahan scoring with some ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Callahan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Lee is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lee trying to keep a closed guard but Callahan is proving a slippery customer.
Lee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Callahan throwing strikes from guard but Lee blocks nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Callahan stands up from Lee's guard - Callahan perhaps looking for a knockout.
A solid leg kick lands there for Lee.
Lee lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Lee manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Callahan on his heels. He'll look to pass Callahan's guard now, I'm sure.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Callahan manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Callahan gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lee working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Callahan has passed into half guard!
Lee wants to improve his position but Callahan is controlling well.

Lee is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Callahan has latched onto it... Big trouble! Callahan pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Lee is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Callahan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jc Callahan!
