Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Walter Kurtz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roderick Solo!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Solo throws a leg kick
and Solo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kurtz waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Solo.
Solo on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Kurtz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Solo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kurtz is in Solo's guard.
Solo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kurtz's guard.
Solo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kurtz is keeping the position for now.
Kurtz wants to sweep but no luck.
Kurtz is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Solo postures up and lands a big shot to Kurtz's brow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kurtz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Solo defends it easily.
Solo has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kurtz to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Solo is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kurtz pulls down on the head and he's put Solo to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Walter Kurtz!
